Preconception & Fertility Health

Most women begin to think about eating healthy after they become pregnant, but we believe there’s an incredible opportunity to make huge improvements in your egg and sperm quality, the health of your pregnancy and ultimately, the health of that future little one by making simple, yet powerful diet and lifestyle changes prior to conceiving.

Preconception health is a fairly new topic in modern times, but it’s one that has been practiced for generations in traditional cultures. It’s all about optimally nourishing both partners with fertility boosting foods, working to address stress and emotional issues, decreasing environmental toxin exposure, and detoxification to boost fertility, ensure your healthiest pregnancy and birth experience.

The most powerful and life-giving aspect of preconception prep? Research shows that all of the health efforts you put in prior to conceiving have the ability to positively impact the DNA you’ll use to start a human life, ultimately creating a stronger, healthier future for your baby.

Now that is so amazing stuff!

Our hope is to take some of the stress and worry out of making babies and raising healthy children by educating and empowering couples to take charge of their fertility health.

Why does preparation before conception matter?

Getting baby ready is all about getting your body healthy before conception. At least that’s the goal! It takes a whole lot of nutrients to conceive and grow a healthy little one and when our bodies are missing these essential nutrients and are bogged down with toxins and other harmful substances from our environments and stress, it can make conception a nearly impossible feat.

There are many reasons our bodies say “um, I don’t think so” to conceiving and we need to start listening better. Our bodies are innately intelligent and desire to create balance in every aspect of life, including fertility.

Research shows that good nutrition can positively affect egg quality, help balance female hormones, improve sperm quality and quantity and has the ability to turn healthy genes on and unhealthy genes off within our DNA. What does this mean to you? Nourishing your body with nutrient-dense whole foods and supplementation means improved fertility, sustained pregnancies and healthy, vibrant babies.

At Alo Wellness, we use a holistic approach to address the needs of each of our couples, using their very specific health history, diet history, current and past cleaning and beauty products and stress burden to create personalized Wellness Protocols to optimize fertility, naturally.

Why both partners matter…

Yes. Once you’re pregnant, it’s all about Mama’s health. But let’s not forget it takes two to tango.

No pun intended.

We tend to forget that making a baby is a 50/50 split: half Dad, half Mom.

The health of both partners is important in optimizing fertility and creating a stress-less conception story. His sperm and your egg pair up to become a beautiful, whole embryo.

About a third of fertility issues fall on Dads. His sperm turns over once every 3 months and the quality, quantity and morphology are affected by what he’s eating (and not eating). Environmental toxins, stress and exposure to radiation (like Wifi and his phone in his pants pocket) also affect his little swimmers. Don’t worry, though. These are all factors we can help support by preparing from 3 to 6 months before conceiving.

Another third of fertility issues fall on Mamas-to-Be.  Her egg’s quality, maturation process, and ovulation are all affected by many of the very same things as the sperm and maintaining a healthy routine through pregnancy is critical. Working to optimize diet, environmental health (hello, organic beauty and skincare products!), and emotional health can all play a positive role in stabilizing hormones, strengthening your fertility and improving your pregnancy and birth experience.

Many couples seek expensive fertility treatments without considering the potential underlying causes of their fertility issues. In turn, they are treated using hormones, medications, and invasive therapies, a path that can be incredibly challenging and physically and emotionally draining.

Many of the common fertility issues couples are dealing with today can be supported using a nutrient-dense diet, eliminating toxin exposure and creating healthy ways to address stress. We do know that this is not the case for everyone and we are grateful couples have assisted conception options.

At Alo Wellness, we work with both partners to make sure each is bringing their A-Game! This not only brings the excitement back to conceiving, but also helps to eliminate some of the fear that many couples experience when planning a new addition to their family.

Why work with us?

The real question here is why not work with us? What is there to lose? We want to get you healthy and you want a healthy baby! Sounds like a pretty good match to us!

Working on your health before conception may feel like a new idea as few health practitioners are focusing on this type of work. We believe this is the ultimate form of prevention and not only gets your body healthy, but sets the tone for pregnancy and that precious life you create.

Creating a life takes a perfectly orchestrated symphony of hormones, nutrients and a whole lotta love. Our goal is to work with you before any kind of fertility challenges come about, but if you and your partner are struggling to conceive, we’re here to help.

Our preconception package for couples are designed to work with you both, future Mom and Dad.  We want to dig into your health journeys, optimizing your nourishment for healthy hormones and sperm development. Ultimately, we want to help you create a healthier physical and emotional environment for makin’ babies.

What if we’re already TTC (trying to conceive)?

What an exciting time in your life! My best recommendation is to get those bodies ready to improve your chances of conceiving naturally and creating a healthy baby.

Many times, we recommend that if couples have not done anything to prepare for conception (like optimizing diet, supplementation, detoxification, etc.), they take a 4-6 month period to focus on getting their bodies healthy.

I know, this can be hard for some to hear (many clients have told me this, but always thank me later!), but it’s the honest truth. In the grand scheme of life, it is just a blink of an eye, but has the ability to make the entire process easier and gives your future baby the gift of good health. That’s a big deal, right!?

What if we are already planning for assisted conception (like IVF)?

If you are planning on undergoing IVF treatment, I’d love to encourage you to consider supporting your health with holistic nutritional therapy. It’s important to remember that your body still needs to be in the healthiest place possible to help improve your chances of conception and sustaining pregnancy. Infertility treatments can be incredibly stressful and taxing on the body so it’s imperative that you take the time to prepare nutritionally.

If you struggled to conceive naturally and do not have structural issues causing infertility, it is likely those very same issues can make sustaining pregnancy a challenge. As I mentioned earlier, creating a human life takes massive amounts of nutrients and without them, unwanted issues can take place causing life-long challenges.

What better way to make the most out of your investment than by ensuring your body is as healthy as possible to hold that beautiful pregnancy? Working with Alo Wellness is a beautiful way to prepare your body for assisted conception and ensure you are in the best place for success!

What if I’m already pregnant?

Don’t stress! Our prenatal packages help support Mama during the formational months. Supporting pregnancy through extra nutritional and emotional help can be a game changer in how you feel, your birth outcomes and even in baby’s long-term health.

We customize each of our client’s experiences to make sure we’re meeting your very specific needs, understanding that every woman is unique. Supporting a babe in your womb is a pretty out-of-this-world, incredible feet.

We kind of geek out on this stuff, can you tell?

We believe that bringing a little human into the world is a big deal, a life changing, but insanely beautiful gift and we don’t take that lightly. We believe that when you know better, you do better and this just might be your opportunity to create an epic shift in the health of your family and offspring. When you think about it, the effort you put in has the ability to positively affect generations to come. That’s big. And we want to walk along-side you on that journey.

Nourishing your baby is one of the most important things you can do to better ensure a healthy today and tomorrow. Research strongly suggests the correlation between poor nutrition and difficulty concentrating, learning, and growing, and can create a much more difficult time for you, the parent.

Feeding your little on doesn’t have to be such a challenge. The earlier you start with healthy eating, the easier your journey with feeding that precious little one will be. She will develop a more open and accepting pallet that is willing to try new flavors and textures and create a nutritional foundation that will set her up for a strong future.

Since every family reaches out at a different point of feeding with different needs, we’d love to connect with you directly to hear more about your needs and desires and create a package suited specifically to your and your families needs.
